Covid 19 Information

Covid 19 Scotland

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 Scottish Energy Grants have been closely monitoring  the situation, We envisage that in the coming weeks that we will be able to begin installing again using strict social distancing measures.

We’ve decided to put together the following information and guidance to help address any concerns you may have regarding how we will carry out your home insulation surveys and installation.

We understand that your safety and the safety of our installation operatives is paramount.

We have set out what is going to be required during the survey and install, and what measures we have introduced to minimise the risk to our customers and staff.

Survey booking

  • A member of our team will contact you to obtain information and if possible, arrange a suitable survey date. Some of the information required will be:
    • Establish if you or anyone in you home has been diagnosed with Covid-19
    • You or anyone in your home is self-isolating
    • Anyone in your home is at high risk – e.g. over 70, pregnant, diabetic etc…
  • This will also be the best time to discuss any specific concerns or requirements.
  • Once a survey date is agreed the office staff will run over the process of what to expect on the day (some of which will be included in this guidance),
  • Our operatives will take all the necessary precautions including hand washing/sanitising, disinfecting anything touched and follow strict social distancing guidelines at all times.
  • During internal checks/works operatives will always be wearing masks, gloves, over suits and safety glasses for the safety of you and them.
  • Over and above the standard measures we would ask that during the checks/works that everyone in the household remain in another room while the checks/works are carried out.

Installation

  • On the day of install our Insulation team will call you to confirm their time of arrival and ask the same set of questions in case anything has changed since you booked.

  • You will need to sign a form at the end of the job to confirm the work was carried out and that you are satisfied with the work. The operatives will provide you with a paper version in a sanitised folder for you to sign which will be photographed and added to your digital job notes.

Cavity Wall Insulation

At the beginning and end of the job the operatives will need to carry out boiler checks, this involves running the hot water to activate the boiler (heating system is non combi) and confirming the flame colour. The operatives will then carry out the visual flue checks externally before asking you to turn the boiler back off. Provided nothing is wrong the installation will proceed, the checks will be carried out again at the end of the install too.

Loft and Underfloor Insulation

Prior to arrival all entry procedures will have been discussed with you by the team, on arrival you must stay within the room/area of the house as agreed. The operatives will apply disposable floor protection from the main door to the hatch of the loft or underfloor void. The teams will always have full PPE on and will carry out the works with minimum contact and disruption possible.

We ask that any/all personal belonging be removed from cupboards or walkways prior to installation to avoid us having to touch anything. Once the guys have gained access to the loft/underfloor the remainder of the works is carried out within the space.

At the end of the works the operatives will disinfect all areas working from the hatch to the door, lifting and disposing of the floor protector as we go.
